The healthcare sector is getting more and more efficiently and digitally equipped. Still, the sector has not yet fully moved to the digital world and has not (yet) embraced all available technologies. A great deal of paper stealthily continuous to circulate in many healthcare organisations. Does this have something to do with investments and fear for the security of information? Or is working with paper so ingrained that being able to browse and make notes just works pleasantly?

Holding on to paper

Paper has been the communication tool for decades. It is thus not that crazy to want to hold on to it. The tangibility of information and actually holding something in your hands. That is emotion. However, the healthcare sector too sees the possibilities for increased efficiency. We cannot ignore all the digital technologies anymore.

Nor should you want to ignore them. In the digital age, we can no longer do without technology. So why should we not fully use this and get it to work in our favour? Think of the time spent looking for information that will be greatly reduced. Think of information that can easily be shared and edited. The ability to share information and to access and edit information on site. That’s what the healthcare sector can benefit from!

Digitalisation and the feeling of paper

If we connect these facts, the ideal situation is a digital solution that manages to resemble the feeling of paper. Humans work from their emotions. Complicated ICT solutions are usually not build on that. I-FourC, specialised in digital archiving of privacy sensitive files, rose to this challenge. They have developed a solution that allows you to work on digital devices as you would with paper. This means that you can simply browse through your digital file, highlight information, compare, place bookmarks and add notes. All that including the digital advantages!

Security

Security is an aspect that should always be taken into consideration. Certainly also in the digital world. Do you send information via e-mail or other applications? Then you have to be able to trust that these are safe connections and that all procedures surrounding digital safety are strictly managed. I-FourC proves that the security of information is guaranteed through the ISO27001 certificate: the standard for information security!

We cannot ignore it any longer. We will have to embrace the digital age and get it to work in our favour, in such a way that it supports the current practices instead of drastically changing them.
