Joan Westendorff (64), owner of Jalema and I-FourC and former director of Jalema in Reuver (L) will reinforce the existing executive team of both companies.

Four years ago Westendorff retired after acquiring Atlanta in Hoogezand from bankruptcy the year before. After Jalema ran into difficulties over 2,5 years ago, a reorganisation was led by Léon Lalieu and John Tostrams. Besides a large number of organisational changes, 35 staff members had to be let go. Following the reorganisation Westendorff bought two companies who were experiencing hardship, the injection molding factory in Reuver and Jalema’s daughter company in France.

As a result of the reorganisation Jalema especially has entered calmer waters and a reasonable profit could be noted over the past financial year.

Yet the world of storage systems remains a difficult one as a result of developments in digitisation and the trade channels that Jalema supplies are also constantly moving and setting increasingly higher demands.

Now that Jalema has entered calmer waters, Westendorff has decided to take responsibility together with the current management for the implementation of the necessary steps towards the future. His focus will mainly lie on product development of traditional products, a field in which he has been able to gain the necessary experience as the founder of the Innofabriek. Additionally, he will work on searching for new forms of collaboration at home and abroad with the help of his extensive network.

Comments Westendorff:

“I am pleased to start working on the further implementation of the necessary changes within our organization. It’s wonderful that I can do this in collaboration with Léon Lalieu and John Tostrams, two people who have led Jalema through a tough phase and have managed to establish a good basis for the future of Jalema and I-FourC. Together with them and the people in our two great companies, I want to work on a Jalema and I-FourC that is characterised by product innovation, decisiveness and a strong internationally oriented policy.”
